Beach Trip

The beach was calling our name as it does this time of year so we took a trip down Okaloosa Island near Destin with our friends, the Bunches. This was our first visit to the beach with Tate as the active, mobile little boy he is now.  It was a lot of fun to play in the pool this time. Although, the beach was beautiful (and oil spill free), Tate didn't care for the sand. Despite our best efforts, he just couldn't get over it this trip. Luckily we stayed at a place with great pools and a lazy river. :) Here are some pictures from our adventure.
Tate in action at the pool where he spent most of the week.

This best sums up Tate's attire for the pool/beach...The first day he was miserable because his eyes burned from the sun and then he would rub his eyes and get sunscreen all in them.  Once he discovered the hat and sunglasses were a help, he didn't take them off the rest of the week (and was one cool dude). :)

Tate and Dad in the edge of the pool chillin.

Tate and Mom on the beach.  Notice Tate is happy as long as he is not touching any sand.  I have described it to people like this.  Tate loved the beach but hated the sand.

Thank you, Mr. Hartley!

After almost 10 years of marriage, David and I finally have a dining table! And it's a very special dining table because David's dad hand-crafted it. We sent him a picture of a table I liked, ordered table legs for it, and he did all the rest. Amazing talent! It is solid black walnut and it is GORGEOUS! See for yourself....

Mr. Hartley with his creation.

It has 2 leaves and extends to seat 10+ people.

Tate got in on the assembly and even demanded his Granddaddy read him a book during the process.

Tate immediately deemed it safe enough to sit under...after all, his Granddaddy makes things to last!

Now the pressure is on to purchase chairs and furniture to match. Not to mention, I have to paint the walls and make curtains too...and I haven't sewn in at least 8 years. (I hate making bobbins!) Lots of work to be done but I am thrilled to finally have a place for a large group to eat dinner. Stay tuned for the finished room...but don't hold your breath, the curtains may take me awhile. ;o)

MiMi and Pop Visit, April 2010

It was that time again....time when MiMi and Pop couldn't stand to be away from Tate any longer! They came down (from Raleigh) mid-April. Here are a few pics (okay, maybe A LOT of pics) from their stay.

Tate loves to play with his silly Pop.
