David and I went to our first UT game together! Finally! Can you believe that after 10 years of marriage and 13 years since we started dating, the only college football games we have gone to together have been Samford football games (Go Dogs!)? The only reason we went to this one was because we had free tickets. David's company had a regional sales contest during the month of September and David won! The prize was 2 tickets to any SEC football game and my husband was gracious enough to take me to a UT game. They just happened to be playing in Tuscaloosa this year so it worked out well.
Our friends, Shawn and Carolyn (who are both UA grads), were keeping Tate that day for us (they did not have tickets) but also wanted to join us for a little "tailgating." They led us to a great free parking spot, showed us around campus, and hung out in the quad with us until game time.
Here are Tate and Finley in the quad. Notice Tate is appropriately dressed in orange. These two received a lot of comments while riding around in this wagon. *Please excuse the poor quality photos...they were made with my cell phone.
As you can see, our seats were in the upper deck, but it was actually a great view. If you can't be in the best seats in the house, you might as well be up there. We could see how every play was playing out. We were also surrounded by lots of UT fans. :)

The "T"!!

We had a really good time, even if UT didn't win. They certainly came close though! I was prepared for them to get stomped so anything better than that was exciting to me. David even came around to the idea that going to football games can be fun. Before this game, he had no motivation to go. Maybe we'll get to go again in two years when they play here again and this time we'll take Shawn and Carolyn inside the game with us. By the way, when we went to pick Tate up, they had dressed him in a BAMA shirt his uncle Mo gave him and a red coat. Ha Ha.
On a side note, on the way out to Tuscaloosa (about a 45 min. drive), we gave Tate a snack so he would be ready to party when we reached the campus. We had just purchased him a snack cup that has a flexible top with slits in it so he can reach down in it and pull the food out. This turned out to be a bad idea. Cheerios EVERYWHERE!
