On our way home from the beach, we decided to leisurely drive home and stop at the Air Force Base Armament Museum at Eglin Air Force Base. I thought we were stopping because Tate would enjoy it. After all, all week long he would point out the "copters" flying over us with excitement. But when we arrived and I saw David making a beeline for the SR-71 Blackbird (pictured below), I quickly caught on that this was not just for Tate. He was giddy and mentioned that he had a GI Joe model of a SR-71 when he was a kid.

One last tidbit....after the Armament Museum, we stopped in Greenville, AL to take pictures of the gravestones of David's (and Tate's) ancestors, including their namesake, Anderson Comer Hartley. I was extremely motivated after being immersed in Ancestry.com the past few months. It was really fun locating the graves- I felt like we were on a special mission - but it was extremely HOT! At one point, we just put Tate in the air-conditioned car while I wrapped things up. He could not take the heat any longer.

Our trip home ended up taking 10 hrs (twice the usual) after all our stops (including dinner at Cracker Barrel :).
